[It's a family thing] The Hart family established Hart Engraving Company in 1920 on Wisconsin Avenue and Water Street in downtown Milwaukee, WI. Hart Engraving Co., founded by Bill Hart, started out as a full process engraver and plate maker (services by provided by Bill Lemel). Shortly after Hart Engraving's opening, Bill Hart brought his brother Edward Hart into the business. Shortly after Edward joined Hart Engraving, Bill brought in his own son Elmer Hart. The next generation to stop into the family business was Jim Hart, the son of Edward Hart. Next in line, and current president, was Jim Hart's son, Brian Hart. Brian, has worked at Hart Engraving as a press operator since 1974 and has been president of the business as well as continuing to be the master press operator since 1996 when Jim Hart retired. In the early 1990's Brian's wife nancy joined in on the family business running day-to-day operations and soon beginning to run a press. Brian and Nancy's daughter, Kristen, has been working at Hart Engraving during the summers since she was in High School and still does some set-up and marketing work.
